Thank you for writing that - I hope it helps a lot of people demystify death. I will never forget being with my husband when he died and it is an incredibly important, moving time. We don’t know what the dying can hear or understand , but I hope I sent him in his way with as much love and courage as I could.

Thank you so much, Sue. I hope so too - one thing I've become really passionate about since working in hospices is making death less of a taboo subject. It is something that touches us all, and is a very natural part of life. Being with Mike was a transformative experience in so many ways.

Your husband was so lucky to have been loved by you and to have had you there with him at the end. I'm sure you were bloody amazing. X

Wow Kathy. Your writing always blows me away, but this piece in particular really got me. So impeccably written and I felt every word.
