Thank you for writing that - I hope it helps a lot of people demystify death. I will never forget being with my husband when he died and it is an incredibly important, moving time. We don’t know what the dying can hear or understand , but I hope I sent him in his way with as much love and courage as I could.
Thank you so much, Sue. I hope so too - one thing I've become really passionate about since working in hospices is making death less of a taboo subject. It is something that touches us all, and is a very natural part of life. Being with Mike was a transformative experience in so many ways.
Your husband was so lucky to have been loved by you and to have had you there with him at the end. I'm sure you were bloody amazing. X
Hi Kathy, just discovered this, I didn't realise it was you. In case you're wondering who the hell I am, it's Richard, Charlotte Browns dad. Wonderfuly descriptive and poignent piece of prose. Well done you. If you want to see my rubish, go to josephmasonauthor.com
It is me indeed! :) Thank you so much Richard, and thanks for sharing your site too - from what I've read of yours previously, it certainly won't be rubbish!
Wow Kathy. Your writing always blows me away, but this piece in particular really got me. So impeccably written and I felt every word. I'll now never forget that our hearing is often the last sense to go. And I think Dr Brooks sounds amazing! Thank you for sharing such a powerful moment with us. What a precious gift you gave Mike 🕊️
Your writing is breathtaking.
Oh wow, what a gorgeous compliment. 🥲 Thank you so much Ingrid!

Thank you so much Jo!
